It’s that time of the month again where drinks will spill, heads will hurt and livers will need a transplant. Each Favela Rock brings a lil’ something special, and March is no different. Founding co-member Will Bond aka Grills Cosby aka Billions will be spinning his last set ever before embarking on a new journey to the UK. He promises a sweet trip down memory Rock with 5 years worth of all the bangers that have rocked the dancefloor at Favs. But one thing I can’t help but realise is that most of the OG team at FR is on their way out…this saddens me incredibly. I jumped on board probably around 5 months after the club night launched. Along with Opulent Magazine head honchos Evet Jean and Will Bond, there was an epic line up of cutmaster killah CWD (aka Boy Wonder), Oohee (who incidentally used to go by the name Ooi), Tranter (aka the friendly giant), Rob Diggity and myself.

Throughout the years there’s been a slow change to the roster – with SeeDub moving to the UK, Will and Evet only jumping on the decks in an absolute emergency (usually half tanked and full funny!), Tranter got obsessed with bike shorts and rose to fame with his Gameboy/Gamegirl crew, Oohee disappeared off the face of the DJ scene (much to the disappointment of a massive fan base), Rob Diggity formed Apollo Kids with Edo, quickly changing to Opulent Sound and killing the festival scene, before retiring from DJ all together and forming the production powerhouse Hidden Suns. I feel like I need to up the ante now and hang up my headphones. But I can’t do that to Favela Rock! And to my wallet haha!

So make sure you get down to Miss Libertines March 26th for Billions last set EVER. And peep the newest roster of party starters that have been holding shit down for the last lil’ while – Micka5k, TPC, Chopstixxx, Opulent Sound and of course Boooolions!
