‘TURN IT UP’ – CH 10 LOGIES AWARD AFTERPARTY!
What a ridiculously epic weekend, capped off by an insane party that I will never forget. As mentioned in my previous post, there was not a lot of time for sleeping these past few days, thanks to Carbon, Favela Rock, The Sneaker Freaker Swap Meet and yes, the Ch 10 Logies after party. This will forever go down as a life changing moment for me, not only thanks to the incredible insight from some of my influences at Carbon (Bobby Hundreds, Frank Liew and the wizz-bang moderation from my boss hog Woody), I also was fortunate to cap it off surrounded by some amazing Australian talent. Everyone’s been asking me about all the goss from the Logies Afterparty, and I guess everyone wants to know who was trashed and what went down.
Truth be told, it was just like any other party I’ve played at, just surrounded by high profile Australian actors and talent, but more importantly Mr Lachlan Murdoch. Lachlan walked over to the DJ booth and asked me to turn the music up. I of course, unsuspecting of who he was at the time stated ‘oh sorry the Ch 10 heads want me to keep it down til a bit later’…he replied ‘oh believe me, it’s OK if it comes from me!’. I slowly realised who I was talking to and within a beat he had his arm stretched out and introduced himself. ‘Hi, I’m Lachlan’. Um……..yeah!
This happened throughout the majority of the night, with famous faces making their way over to the booth giving me some hella nice props, all while making sure they introduced themselves to me. Having come from an actor’s background, this is what we usually call ‘networking’ or ‘working the room’. It was incredibly humbling to be welcomed into such a private arena and congratulated and applauded for my skills. Woop Woop
So just a quick run down of some highlights!
- Karl ‘Gold Logie’ Stefanovic ended up at our party, gettin’ jiggy to my banging sounds and accepting buckets of congratulations from all the Ch 10 heads
- Megan Gale came over and said ‘it’s like you have my iPod on, you’re mixing all my favourite songs in the most incredible way’ – big ups for loving some dope hip hop Megan!
- Shortly after Megan and Lachlan wandered over Sarah Murdoch too came over and declared ‘you’re brilliant MAFIA, I love you…incredible’… wish I’d taped that for the next mixtape!
- My girl Fuzzy went head to head in a dance off with Masterchef’s Matt Preston when I dropped ‘Push It’… Fuzzy came out the winner
- Katy Perry rocked up… everyone swarmed her trying to get a glimpse!
- Andy from Hamish and Andy, George Negus, the other Masterchef dude that isn’t Matt or George proceeded to give me pounds every time I dropped a track
- Toady came over with some Neighbours heads for a snap
Ironically everyone was taking photos with me throughout the night, yet I didn’t capture one pic for myself! I was all in my ‘professional -yes-I-deserve-to-be-here-I’m-the-star’ mode so didn’t take any pics at all. SPEWING. What I do have though is this epic double shot of Twitter praise from my new BFFs Megan Gale and Sarah Murdoch – definitely WINNING!!!
So much else went on, but it was such a surreal night (on top of copious vodka cranberries) that to remember everything is impossible. Definitely a highlight to my DJ career - Logies, you’re all good with me yo!…
