Having staunched my way through 1/3rd of 2011’s ‘Big 3’ (
Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3) along with millions of others, the remaining two will no doubt be battling it out for my affection over the coming months with trailers out the yin-yang. As bored politicians and human rights activists begin boarding the wahmbulance to protest MW3’s realistic depictions of New York, Paris and London getting their collective shits ruined, the gaming community gleefully rubs it’s hands together in anticipation of another blockbuster campaign.
In other news Jay Electronica (the illuminated rap phenom turned poster boy for writer’s block) is riding the Modern Warfare wave by releasing a song called ‘Modern Warfare 3’ tomorrow. Aside from the obvious capitalization on a hyped video game release by an equally hyped rapper, I have no idea why this is happening and the cover art perplexes me. Also, why the heck did the Battlefield 3 trailer feature Jay-z’s ’99 problems’ as it’s soundtrack? Either way, I’m excited to see what Jay E does with the concept and can’t wait to hear him rap about noob tubes and airstrikes.
