KRS-ONE DOWN UNDER!
Jaws to the floor, the street philosopher is about to hit our shores! KRS-ONE, perhaps the world’s most learned hip hop MC is about to embark on a five-date tour of Australia for the very first time. Having hit the scene as part of the illest Boogie Down Productions in 1986, KRS has continued to school fools on the ins and outs of street life with the most intricate, well-versed rhymes that will leave most rappers for dead. You name it, he’s done it. That is, except for flying! The MC refuses to get on a plane anywhere in the world, so the logistics of putting this entire Aussie tour together is one not for the faint-hearted. Mega massive props to Trent at Slingshot Entertainment, one of the top hip hop promoters in the biz, who took on the challenge head first. Organising a four-week boat cruise that will see KRS-ONE and his fam go through Hawaii and New Zealand to his final destination of Australia, Trentslingshot has spent years preparing for what is set to be the tour of the year.
I could sit here and list off all of KRS-ONE’s ridiculous achievements but let’s just say he’s released over “20 albums, spoken at 500 universities, established the Stop The Violence Movement, influenced the creation of the “West-Coast All-Star” anti-gang anthem “We’re All In The Same Gang”, warned the Hip Hop community against giving up their humanity for technological advancement (H. E. A. L.—Human Education Against Lies), and has established the Temple of Hip Hop for the spiritual exploration of Hip Hop’s culture”. And breathe!
