So once a year I get my dreadlocks out, leave the kicks behind and strap on some sandals for the hippy fest that is Rainbow Serpent. I missed out last year as I had too many gigaligs, but this year I restructured my schedule so I could take a nice weekend off to enjoy the doof doof and lentil chow. Going down at a private property in Beaufort, the once a year, five-day festivas draws psy-trance lovers from around the globe to the Australian outback and boy was it hot. With average temperatures high in the 30s, its safe to say there’s some mega tanned (and pinky burnt) crusties making their way back to the city this week. The highlight of the event was finally seeing the homie Hans DC aka Phantom Sun kill it at the Chill Stage on Friday night. He’s a killer DJ, and by killer I mean he kills any genre of music thrown at him… the guy is one of the best all-round DJs I’ve ever heard. There wasn’t much time for taking photos, as I truly treated the weekend as a holiday, away from the phone, laptop and camera… but I did manage to take a few snaps and steal some of the lady’s iPhone shots.
