G-Shock G-5700RF-1JR (2005 Throwback)

It’s 2005 and suddenly the favourite barely-overseas destination of Australians is an eeek-don’t-go-there-zone for drug smugglers and party boys and girls. Schapelle Corby cops twenty years for a boogie board bag of weed, the Bali Nine get found out smuggling some keys of horse, and socialite Michelle Leslie comes down very hard and very quickly when ecstasy is found in her handbag. In the G-Shock world, however, it was all pure bliss – 106 new watch models were released, including a stack of special limited releases. This beautiful G-Shock G-5700RF is one of them. We were finally coming around to the importance of the environment and trees in helping us, you know, breathe, so G-Shock prepped this model as a tribute to the Amazon rainforest and its indigenous people with a fabric inspired by their clothes designs. Did you know about 20 percent of Earth’s oxygen is produced by that big patch of green? Gawd damn, thank you! A partner in crime of the gorgeous G-7300RF, this was a pack worth chasing and still is.
