How to Choose the Right G-Shock

Here at G-Street we’ve handled our fair share of different models and emptied our wallets for more than we’d care to admit. Along the way we’ve learned a thing or two about how to tell if we’re making the right purchase, at least in theory. So we’ve put together a quick guide on things to consider when you’re looking for the right G, there really is a model out there for everyone. However, we can only give you the information, the rest is up to you.

COST

You’ve only got so much money to spend, that’s fairly obvious. It’s hard to justify dropping a grand on a watch when you’re driving a car that isn’t even worth that. The one thing we like to remember when we covet the pricy is to go with lay-by over credit card any day – you won’t want to pay for it when you have and you’ll work harder to get it when you’re half way there.

STYLE

There are so many good looking G-Shocks out there but some are going to suit you better than others. Consider the size and colour, if you’re worried about how it looks you’ll be hesitant to put it on every morning. Of course, go for the look you want, not just the one you have but think about how it’ll look at school, at work, walking the dog, at a party or anywhere else you might want to wear it. Make sure it’s you.

COMFORT

Not everyone can rock the big bulky arm-stretchers. Some people prefer cloth bands to resin, some people get sweaty under the band while others don’t like the feel of metal against their skin. Try it on to make sure it fits properly because a G-Shock will break you before you break it.

FUNCTIONALITY

It’s cool to have a compass on your watch to show all of your friends, but how often do you go hiking? If you travel a lot then GPS time correction is great but the Bluetooth connective models might be more useful if you’re just catching the bus every day – make sure you think about how you intend to use it.

RARITY

All of the above will go out the window if you have the chance to cop the super rare, and we’re all for that. At the end of the day, rarity is the ultimate commodity so there will always be someone out there to take it off your hands if you run out of storage space.

If you’re still not sure, then our number one advise it keep it simple. Chances are it won’t be the last one you’ll ever buy so don’t walk away with a sour taste in your mouth. Keep on rockin’ in the G-World!
