On Thursday November 30, as the sun began to set over Sydney’s Inner West, a bespectacled man took his life’s work in his hand and, with a surge of energy, hurled it against a wall. In any other case this might sound like a sad story, but that man was Kikuo Ibe. His life’s work? G-Shock watches.
Last night, G-Shock Australia played host to some of the country’s freshest and finest G-fiends to celebrate the launch of the brand’s collaboration with creative powerhouse TA-KU.
Mr Ibe was in attendance to tell the story of G-creation, as well as to unveil the glimmering Sapphire Crystal 5600s that debuted recently in NYC. Mouth-watering delights provided by mobile munch-masters Tsuru fuelled energies (exhausted later on the dancefloor to tunes by some of the country’s finest DJs), complemented by seemingly bottomless beverages.
A magnificent display of dual-branded craftsmanship, the collaborative watch was on show for all to ogle while those in the know rocked it on-wrist. A selection of TA-KU’s photography was also on display – a sample of the visual treats contained in the stunning coffee table book that accompanies each watch.
The TA-KU x G-Shock DW5600TA-KU-1D is available now from select Australian G-Shock stockists and online through TA-KU’s web store.
